Editor review

Wave Depths is a side-scrolling adventure with five hand-built chapters. Save state persists across sessions and chapter select unlocks after a single play of each chapter. The chapter-replay structure is the design choice that respects the player and supports both single-sitting and split-session play.

The narrative pacing fits the chapter structure. Each chapter has a setup, a complication, and a payoff; the payoffs land because the chapter format gives them room. The five-chapter total runs around four to six hours at a careful pace.

Played across multiple evenings and a long Edinburgh Edinburgh tram weekend commute. Each chapter fits a long ride or a short evening.

The weakness is the inventory UI. The inventory layout is cramped on phone screens and the combine-by-drag input occasionally registers the wrong target. A larger touch-mode UI would help. Four-and-a-half stars overall.
