Editor review

Wave Layup is a casual arcade sports game with one-button input. Three difficulty tiers and no real-money purchases keep the loop honest. The simplicity is the design choice; this is built for short sessions and the design does not pretend otherwise.

The one-button input does more than it looks. Power scales with timing rather than button-hold duration, so the player learns the swing window early and refines it across matches. The skill ceiling is real even with the minimal input scheme.

I played across several Edinburgh Edinburgh tram commutes. Each match runs two to three minutes. The save resumes mid-season; you can start a season, pause for a week, and pick up where you left off.

The flaw is the visual polish. The minimum-viable visuals work but lack the visual feedback for power shots that the format would benefit from. A slightly more pronounced animation on power shots would help. Four-and-a-half stars overall.
